Day 3
This morning I listened to a new episode of the Daily Stoic podcast and host Ryan Holiday interviewed author Dr. Becky Kennedy. I recently purchased her book Good Inside from The Painted Porch bookstore as a possible book to read and comment on for this writing project. After listening to their conversation, I’m moving this to the top of the pile. It’s so relevant to my current situation and the experience I’m having as a first time (and first term!) father. I’ll plan to have a commentary on her book put soon.
This brings me to a thought I’m having as it relates to my new schedule and how I can make good use of my time. When I’m not just staring at the miraculous little human in my arms sleeping, I want to have some intellectually stimulating things to do as I rock her back and forth to sleep while my wife catches much needed rest. The easiest thing here is probably to read either on my phone or a kindle as they can be operated with one hand. Traditional printed books are much more challenging to manage right now. I’m also writing these posts on my phone which is definitely less efficient, but I think it will work for now.
My sweet little girl had a pretty good day of feeding and sleeping. She’s resting in my arms as I type this now. I wonder what she’s perceiving in that brain of hers about her environment and selfishly about me. I imagine a good part of her current energy is dedicated to getting nourishment and resting to grow. But I when she looks me in the eyes I can’t help but wonder if she can see the love I look back at her with.
Well I’m off to get some rest myself soon.
So long for now.
