Day 4
How in the hell do you swaddle a baby so that she can’t break out immediately like a newborn Houdini? After no more than 60 seconds post wrapping, her little hands poke up through the fabric and flail about. But it’s super cute.
She started to smile a few times today. I can’t wait until she becomes more intentionally expressive and I see that sweet grin more and more. Don’t worry, I’m not wishing away the present, just getting glimpses of what we have to look forward to!
Tomorrow is her first in-office checkup so we packed our bag today and started to prepare for our first adventure out since bringing her home. Even the most basic trips like a couple miles down the road require lots of supplies and planning. Gone (at least temporarily) are the days of hopping into the car and running a quick errand. But it will be great to get her out of the house and check on her growth progress.
Last thought for today is a reminder to myself to take a moment for gratitude. I’m very fortunate that we have a wonderful, healthy baby. I’m also grateful that my wife and I get to experience the joy of parenting together as we enter a new phase of life and our relationship.
So long for now!
